Volunteer Agreement
- Volunteers must initially set a meeting with the department director or designee for an orientation and library tour. This meeting counts toward volunteer hours. Volunteers may not begin hours until after the training session occurs.
- Unless instructed by supervisor, volunteers may not work in teams.
- Friends are not permitted to visit volunteers during hours.
- Volunteers must notify a library staff member when arriving and if leaving the building so that the staff member can sign the volunteer in and out, as appropriate.
- Volunteer understands that after submitting application, it will be reviewed and eligibility for volunteer work will be determined. Volunteer applicant agrees to an interview with the on site manager and on site orientation.
- Volunteer agrees to follow the supervision and direction of any library personnel or employee.
- Genealogy volunteers working without staff present and Youth Service’s adult volunteers eighteen and over regularly working must have a completed background check on file ($20 fee).
- Volunteer understands that they will receive no monetary benefits in return for volunteer service and that the Library may terminate this agreement at any time without prior notice for any reason.
- This agreement may be cancelled by the volunteer or the Library at any time by notifying the other party.
- Volunteer is responsible for any paperwork required for Community Service or Advantage Shelby County.
Volunteer Application
Volunteers under the age of 15 require written permission from a parent or caregiver.
Volunteer applications may also be picked up at the Circulation desk upstairs.
